Game Recommendations
This page is a list of a buncha games I've enjoyed over time that I'd recomend playing, along with links to where you can play them if you're interested. Enjoy!
NOTE: This page is still HEAVILY under construction, with some recommendations having no text or links yet.
Fun with Friends
Toaster Arena
Toaster is an FPS, which can be best described as Halo gamemodes and weapon feel, mixed with Titanfall/Quake-esque movement. Oh, yeah, also;
All of the characters are protogens, with a high level of customisation available, letting you choose body parts, colour, voice, and more!
This game is an absolute fucking blast with friends, and I would highly reccomend.
Mods
Cursed Halo
Cursed Halo is exactly what it says on the tin; Halo CE, but everything is cursed, with a wide variety of... interesting... weapons, ranging from just the default pistol but big, to the plasma piss-tol, to GMod toolguns?
I will refrain from mentioning any more guns, as it's best you discover them for yourself. There are also changes and additions to vehicles and the grenades, and I would reccomend being careful with the latter,as the effects can cause softlocks or even crashes lol.
The campaign has some edits to the story and level events, creating a story just as silly as everything else in the mod.
I highly reccomend this mod, especially if you manage to play it with a friend without them knowing the mod's activated.
Half Life 2 VR
Half Life 2 on its own is already a masterpiece of FPS gameplay, story, with graphics that have aged incredibly all things considered (granted it has recieved some updates over time).
Half Life 2 VR takes this excellent gameplay and fully retrofits it to VR, with 6DOF, a new inventory system more fit for VR, and the ability to manipulate objects with your hands.
The mod can be a little janky at times, and the difficult is hightened by the fact the game is designed with flat screen play in mind, but overall it is very fun to revisit City 17 with a new perspective
I will warn that the vehicle segments can be very motion sick inducing, and I would reccomend taking breaks frequently during the vehicle segments.
Visual Novels
Casey Noir and Carved Pumpkin's Latte
Casey Noir is a short, self contained point and click furry visual novel, set around a murder mystery at a hotel, with your character being tasked with solving which of the guests or staff has the blood on their hands.
The art in this VN is absolutely gorgeous, and the gameplay, while a little annoying at times (mainly working out what you can and cannot click on), is overall excellent, and I would highly reccomend.
Endless Labarinth of Night Roads
Created by the same person as Casey Noir mentioned above, ELoNR is a slice of life FVN following Jeremie as he returns home for a bit. Jeremie is a drifter, the name given to delivery drivers who travel the Twilight Highway (A set of mysterious portals across the world) to make deliveries.
Overall, the VN is a nice, slow paced relaxing story with added intruige in the form of the Twilight Highway, I would reccomend it to anyone looking for a nice, relaxing story.
No More Future
No more Future is a visual novel in which you take the role of a terminal cancer patient, visited by a scientist with an offer of a chance at eternal life, in order to aid them in developing the technology.
You take the offer, and your consciousness is transferred to a synthetic lifeform, capable of everything a normal body can, and more. However, you soon find out that your choice did not come without consequences.
The game manages to cover a range of topics, from the legal grey area you now reside in, to if you are even really still 'you', or just a computer imitation.
This has honestly got to be my favourite visual novel I've played, from the beautiful art to the in depth world building
It is not quite finished as of the last time I played it, but I would still highly reccomend
Be warned this game does cover heavy topics such as death, suicide, depression, anxiety, and existential dread, so if these topics are sensitive for you, I would recommend staying away.
Walking Sim / Story
Night in the Woods
Night in the Woods is a story game in which you play as Mae, a 20 year old who has just dropped out of college and returns to her small, American rust belt town.
The game involves you hanging out with friends, catching up on what happened in the 2 years you were gone and how the town has changed (largely for the worse), before taking a dark twist in the second half.
Oxenfree
A story game in which you play as Alex, as she travels with her friends for a party on Edwards Island, known for creepy radio frequencies that you can pick up in cetrain spots.
the game involves you travelling across Edwards Island, Fucking around with these frequencies and, subsequently, finding out why you shouldn't.
